#40. Little Caesar (1931)

The ambitious criminal Rico (Edward G. Robinson) moves from the country to the big city in the east and joins Sam Vettori's gang with his friend Joe Massara. Sooner he becomes the leader of the gangsters and known as Little Caesar(Edward G. Robinson), and gets closer to the great mobster Pete Montana. In a robbery of a night-club, he kills the Crime Commissioner Alvin McClure and his pal Joe witnesses the murder. When Rico (Edward G. Robinson) orders Joe to leave his mistress Olga Strassoff, she takes a serious decision.

#39. Mean Streets (1973)

The future is set for Tony and Michael - owning a neighbour- hood bar and making deals in the mean streets of New York city's Little Italy. For Charlie, the future is less clearly defined. A small-time hood, he works for his uncle, making collections and reclaiming bad debts. He's probably too nice to succeed. In love with a woman his uncle disapproves of (because of her epilepsy) and a friend of her cousin, Johnny Boy (Robert De Niro), a near psychotic whose trouble-making threatens them all - he can't reconcile opposing values. A failed attempt to escape (to Brooklyn) moves them all a step closer to a bitter, almost preordained future.

#38. The Friends of Eddie Coyle (1973)

Low level serial criminal Eddie Coyle (Robert Mitchum) is awaiting sentencing for his latest conviction for which he expects to get up to five years in prison. This situation doesn't stop Eddie (Robert Mitchum) from continuing his criminal connections, namely acquiring guns for his associates' bank robbery spree. Regardless, Eddie, (Robert Mitchum), at age fifty-one and with a wife and children to support, doesn't feel like he can emotionally endure another prison sentence. As such, Eddie (Robert Mitchum) contemplates providing information to a local police officer, Dave Foley, in exchange for no prison time. Eddie (Robert Mitchum) knows a little about a lot of criminal activities, but will this be enough to satisfy Foley? And Eddie (Robert Mitchum) has had past experience about crossing the wrong people, so he has to tread carefully about who he gives up information.

Tom Stall is a loving family man and well-respected citizen of a small Indiana town. But when two savage criminals show up at his diner, Tom is forced to take action and thwart the robbery attempt. But all that media attention has the likes of mobsters showing up at his doorstep, charging that Tom is someone else for whom they've been looking. C's (Lillo Brancato) leap to manhood is marked by tragedy, but also by his recognition of the many faces of love.

#35. Blood in Blood Out (Bound by Honor) (ye1993ar)

Based on the true life experiences of poet Jimmy Santiago Baca, the film focuses on half-brothers Paco and Cruz, and their bi-racial cousin Miklo. It opens in 1972, as the three are members of an East L.A. gang known as the "Vatos Locos", and the story focuses on how a violent crime and the influence of narcotics alter their lives. Miklo is incarcerated and sent to San Quentin, where he makes a "home" for himself. Cruz becomes an exceptional artist, but a heroin addiction overcomes him with tragic results. Paco becomes a cop and an enemy to his "carnal", Miklo.

Harold, a prosperous English gangster, is about to close a lucrative new deal when bombs start showing up in very inconvenient places. No one knows who is trying to muscle in on his action or if anynone is, but Harold wants to know who they are. He finds out soon enough, and bloody mayhem ensues.

Meanwhile, FBI Agent Paul Smecker is assigned the task of investigating the aftermath of each mission conducted by the MacManus brothers and Rocco. The more pieces Smecker fits into the puzzle, the more he asks himself: Should he continue his job and possibly arrest the trio, or join them in their mission to destroy evil?

In London, the Russian pregnant teenager Tatiana arrives bleeding in a hospital, and the doctors save her baby only. The Russian descendant midwife Anna Khitrova finds Tatiana's diary written in Russian language in her belongings and decided to find her family to deliver the baby, she brings the diary home and ask her uncle Stepan to translate the document. Stepan refuses, but Anna finds a card of a restaurant owned by the Russian Semyon inside the diary and she visits the old man trying to find a lead to contact Tatiana's family. When she mentions the existence of the diary, Semyon immediately offers to translate the document. However, Stepan translates part of the diary and Anna discovers that Semyon and his sick son Kirill had raped Tatiana when she was fourteen years old and forced her to work as prostitute in a brothel of their own. Further, Semyon is the dangerous boss of the Russian mafia "Vory v Zakone"...
